Fourth of July weekend

Thursday July 3:  We got fireworks to set off, then went to watch the fireworks.  A town nearby does them a day early and they are awesome but not quite as crazy as every place else on the fourth.  I brought baseballs and soccer balls and glowsticks, but all my kids wanted to do was to sit on the blanket and read their books while we waited.  Ha!  They did love the glow sticks, too.  Thankfully they've always been fans of fireworks too.

We also got our own fireworks.  The boys favorite was the "dumpy dog".  They didn't quite understand it until they saw it.  Let's just say it "dumps".  They cracked up ;)

After the fireworks we came home and did a few of our own as well...mostly sparklers and a few roman candles.  

Friday, July 4:Mike and Dorothy arrived late on the third, so they got to go to the WG parade with us on the Fourth.  I might be the one who loves it most since it holds a special place in my heart, but the kids like watching the cars and stuff go by, and they looooove when they get candy. 

Mat, Marbree and Peter got here later in the evening, and they went to the Cards game with Mike.  The next morning we headed to Six Flags with them.  We had a good time and it wasn't horribly crowded until late afternoon and we decided to take off.  Z and I rode on a "spinny" ride that was way beyond my comfort level but I went because he asked.  He was ok with it but decided he would be ok not going on it again ;)  The littles were happy to hang out on some of the smaller rides with P.
