We don't do Santa in our house. I did growing up, Nate didn't. I didn't really see the point of doing it with the kids, and while mom would have probably freaked out that we're not doing it, she's not here ;) At Z's school last year Santa came, and he reported back to me in a confused voice that "Santa asked if I had been good?". Poor thing. This year, however, he has it totally figured out. In fact, I am surprised about how insistent he is about Santa, where he lives, what he does, who he is. I guess he has picked it up from school, or friends, or something. We talk about Santa (how can we not?), but we are sure to include that he is a pretend character, like Mickey Mouse or Lightning McQueen. Z doesn't think Santa will be bringing him presents, and he gets that while "Mrs. Claus" will be bringing him underwear in his stocking, it is really us.
I am kind of sad, though, because he is in a Christian school, we go to Bible study and Sunday school...yet he is more insistent about Santa than he is about Jesus. I mean, he knows it is Jesus' birthday and all, but he is all about Santa and those presents.
Anyway, we have never done any pictures with Santa because I didn't see the point. I have been looking through a lot of pictures of ours from when I was a kid and started getting nostalgic about those pics, and decided we had better get pics with Santa this year, anyway.
So when a friend of ours decided to do Storytime with Santa at our church as a fundraiser for a mission trip, with pictures taken by another friend of ours, we signed up.
The boys were ok. N wasn't a fan, but everyone else did fine. L just wanted to see what that book was all about...he loves books. They liked the story, we got some cute pictures. Will we do Santa next year....? I don't know. We'll see. But here are the pics. :)
