Camping and Floating

 We went camping and on a float trip with our neighbors.   They have 2 girls that are 4 and 2, so younger than our boys but they all still did great together.  It was a small campground he has been going to since he was a kid.  We hadn't camped in at least a year (2?) but we had a great time.  We got there in the afternoon and got ourselves all unpacked and the tent set up (they had a camper...it sure made food prep easier!). 

We spent one afternoon playing by the river (Black River??).  There was a rope swing that Z had a fun time swinging on.  The littles tried it a few times but they were really just too short to reach and be able to swing well.  They spent a lot of time catching crawfish and spiders and fish on the side of the river too.  It is so fun to watch them explore and find new stuff together!

They also found time to play with and put together some new legos that we got them.  Yes, the legos go everywhere with us!!

One night we walked up to the store to get ice cream and to play on the outdated playground ;)  The other night we had a campfire and ate s'mores...of course!  And both nights we had glowsticks...because they're a necessity if you're out after dark!

The float trip was 6 miles, but I think they would have done fine with 4, though.  We got a raft for all 6 of us and the boys loved it!    Z spent a solid 3/4 of the time in the water just swimming along with us.  The little boys spent a bit of time in the water, although most of the time they would get into the water and immediately want back in the raft (and that got old quickly!).  We took the water guns with us and had a fun time with those early on...lots of pirate chatter happening aboard our "ship".  We pulled off to the side several times to explore and swim and eat.  Once we found a very cold spring that led to the river and found a family of frogs in all different stages of development (fun for science teacher mom!).  I was cracking up at the boys pulling down their swim shorts and peeing on the side of the river...seriously...!

We really all had a great time.  Relaxing (ish) and fun...sure to be a repeat!
