Zoo and KC reunion

July is notoriously a crazy travel month for us.  And if we're not traveling, then people are coming to visit us.  By the end of the month, I am exhausted, missing routine, missing friends, and just generally wanting our normal life back.  Of course I love it all, but by the end...wow.  That is where we're at now.
After we got back from DC on Saturday, Mike and Dorothy came up on Monday with cousin P (lucky Mat and Marbree were on a cruise to celebrate the end of med school and residency for Mat...congrats, Matty!).  We had a good time with them...we went to the Zoo, McDonalds, and the train store.  On Wednesday, then, Mike and Dorothy took Z and P home with them.  We had a few calm days here, then packed up on Friday to head to KC (to meet them) for Mike's side of the family's reunion. 

We drove over to KC (about 4 hours) and got there in time for us to jump in the pool for half an hour.  It took the little boys awhile to warm up to the big pool, but they finally enjoyed it.  We headed to dinner to meet family (six on a Friday night...bad idea), ended up ditching that idea around 645 and ended up eating Arby's on our hotel room floor.  Luckily the boys slept pretty well (packnplays make all the difference!).  But the next morning was a bit nutty in the hotel reoom...oh well.
The reunion went well, and it was fun to see some of that side of the family.  Nate's grandpa was one of 8, Mike was one of 28 grandkids, and Nate was one of 75+ greatgrandkids, and the greatgreatgrandkids (our boys) are past counting. 
We drove back on Saturday afternoon, just 24 hours after we left in the first place.  The kids did not sleep well on the ride back (naptime), which was unfortunate, but we made it home safely.  And now we have no plans to go anywhere for awhile!
And I actually didn't take any pictures of any family.  It was just a little too nutty for me to get the camera out!
