We had a lovely and very relaxing Thanksgiving break. It was actually pretty fabulous. We spent most of the days just kind of hanging out around the house, playing with Legos, sitting by the fire....quite wonderful. Our old neighbor S was in town for the weekend, so she spent a lot of time playing wtih all of the boys, both inside and outside. They all love her and she loves them :) We were glad to have her here to keep all the boys entertained (especially Z) and keep them from being totally crazy all weekend.
Nate and I were able to sleep in almost every day, which is SUCH A TREAT. The boys are old enough now to get up (when we finally let them) and play in the Lego room (mostly) peacefully until we are ready to get out of bed. This meant that they got up/get up most days between 645-7 (although they often wake up before then and yell until then). We let them play until 745-8 when we finally got up. It has been a LONG time coming for us to be able to do this!
Thanksgiving itself was a beautiful day, and after we slept in I took off for a long-ish run, then grabbed Z to run my last mile with me. He is signed up for Read, Right, and Run, where he has to read 26 books, do 26 "right" things, and run 26 miles over the course of the year. His last mile will be a "race" with Go St. Louis in April. Anyway, he and I have been running a mile together here and there. Fun.
Then we headed out to Dad and Dena's and were so glad to enjoy the weather. They just put their house on the market and when it sells will head back into the city to live, so we know our days are numbered out there. This has pros and cons for everyone!
The boys loved going on a tractor ride with Papa Dan. This was the first time the boys have been able to do this...old enough to be safe and not scared out of their brains. ;) Papa loves to show the boys his garden, and they love to water it and pull stuff out (with permission). This time it was turnips. The boys all tried pieces of them, and Z actually enjoyed it.
We played inside when the boys started winding down, and ate a fabulous meal (where I only had to provide pies!).
So glad to have grandparents (and aunts!) close by to play with!
Good times in the Lego room :)
