Vacation!

We decided that we will go out to visit Jenny and Greg every other year in Virginia, just outside of Washington DC.  The last time we went the boys were 18 months old...and I can't believe a) that we were nutty enough to do that and b) that Jenny and Greg let us stay with them. 

Needless to say, this trip was much easier just because the boys were older!  We decided to just get up early and drive straight through.  Turns out it took 16 hours (stopping for gas, to pee, to eat, etc).  Whew.  It was a long long drive but the boys were troopers and did SO well...better than I could have hoped for.  We had made some Lego trays for them and they were a big hit.  They watched some movies, read some books, listened to a book on cd, colored, used stickers, slept...they did amazingly. 

 We all slept in the same room and it went surprisingly well (notice a theme here? our kids are awesome). Jenny had an extra double mattress and we brought our air mattress so the kids didn't have to sleep on the hardwood floor.

We spent our days doing all sorts of stuff (see the next several posts).  In the evening Z played Wii with Greg and got much better over the week.  One night Jenny and I got pedicures, one night we went to Target without any children, most nights we ate desserts and several mornings we got yummy coffee.  A true vacation! 

We drove on Sunday and planned to come home either Friday or Saturday, depending on how everything was going.  We ended up staying until Saturday to enjoy a bit more time with cousins. 

We are incredibly grateful that Jenny and Greg put up with all of our clan for the week.  We had such a fun time and are looking forward to visiting again in 2 years...and what a difference there will be between age 3 and age 5!
