Papa and Grandma's House

We went to Nate's parents house last weekend...I hadn't been since the mess we had in January (oh, sleep, you have been plaguing me that long?!).

We went to Big Surf on Friday with Mike.  This was the only picture I got :)  The boys had a pretty good time...just not L.  For some reason he decided he was anti-water.  He cried and flailed in the lazy river.  He would barely go in the kids area.  He cried the whole way down the one long slide he could go on with Nate.  So the 3 of us kind of took turns dealing with the party pooper.  But the other boys had fun.  They loved going down the big slide on our laps, had fun on the lazy river, and loved the kids area.  Z did all of the slides that he was tall enough for and enjoyed them.  We were there for about 4.5 hours, then wrapped up and headed home.  They passed out in the car!

Friday night Nate and I took off and ate dinner out and stayed at Tan-Tar-A.  We slept in then ate an awesome brunch there.  It was so very nice to get away from our kids and have adult conversation, eat food slowly and by ourselves, and sleep!  The kids did so well we will probably leave them with his parents for a few days later this summer so that we can get some stuff done around the house (if I can get up the nerve to actually let them go!).

Mike bought a tent at an auction or somewhere so we set it up and let the kids play in it.  We ended up bringing it home with us...we're considering an overnight trip at the end of the summer...we'll see.  I grew up camping with Dad and Dena, so it is very nostalgic to me...but with 4 small kids...well, we'll see.
Papa Mike let the boys all ride on his lawn mower (TRACTOR, Mama, TRACTOR!!!!).

They took a bath in Grandma's big tub and had a ball.  I took these shots and honestly thought they were all so cute of C, so here they all are :)

Followed by N, what a cheeseball he is!

We went to church with them on Sunday and stayed for lunch.  It really was a great weekend...the kids did so well.  It helped to have the peapods :)  They took a quick nap on Friday in the car after Big Surf, but napped in beds on Saturday, and that really is what makes the biggest difference.  Well rested kids are so much happier.

Glad that we had this trial run...we have a lot of travel over the next 6 weeks or so, and I was really glad to have one good trip under my belt as motivation and encouragement for the rest of the summer!
